Cold and snowy weather hit the unsuspecting residents of Birmingham Alabama on January 30, 2014 leaving many people stranded and in dire straights. The snowstorm was not a sign of God’s work. Instead God’s work appeared in those who rallied to help people stranded by the storm.
Chik-fil-A Opens Doors and Hearts
It might just be another fast food restaurant many people drive by everyday, but when the snowstorm hit Chik-fil-A opened its doors and the hearts of its employees to help those in need. The storm had stranded many drivers along the roads and highways as cars were not equipped to drive in the unusual weather conditions. When weather made driving a problem the Owner of the Chil-fil-A restaurant, Mark Meadows thought it best to close down and send his team safely home. However they were unable to leave the parking lot and were forced to come back into the warmth of the restaurant. When Mr. Meadows realized what havoc the storm was causing he made a quick decision to help. Together with his team they decided to prepare hundreds of sandwiches and then headed out on foot to offer food to those stranded along the highway. All of the food was provided free to grateful people who were moved by the gesture. The generosity of the owner did not end at the food. He also then opened up his restaurant to provide warmth and shelter and many people slept at the restaurant. The restaurant did not open for business the following morning and continued to aid those in need as a result of the storm.
