Important Steps to Make your Air Compressor Silent

by | Oct 6, 2022 | Business

Compressed air is widely used in industries, you can find them in pneumatics, a start system in engines, vehicle propulsion, automated equipment, refrigerator system, conveying, and spraying cooling. For all these functions, you need a heavy-duty compressor. If you have an air-cooled compressor in your workplace, then over the years you may have witnessed that it is producing a lot more noise, than before when you have installed it for the first time. If you have such a compressor in your factory that is making quite a din, then you can go for sound absorption, sound insulation, and vibration damping to reduce the noise to a tolerable level.

Here we are sharing with you how to make your compressor silent.

Check for air leaks

Compressed air leaks are significant wasted energy. Therefore, you have to check for any air leaks by using flow meters. It helps you to check the flow of the air coming out of the output. If you find there is a significant drop in the output, look for any leaks. Such leaks also cause a lot of noise besides wasting an important resource.

Select a quieter air-cooled compressor model

You can choose an air-cooled compressor model that may generate noise within the 70 to 75 dB. If you already have a compressor, which is a bit older, then there are other ways to tone down its noise.

Insulate the room where the compressor is placed with sound dampening materials

You have the option of insulating your compressor room with sound dampening materials. An easy and inexpensive fix is draping the compressor with sound blankets or using foamboard or acoustic panels on the compressor room walls.

In addition to these steps, you must regularly maintain your air-cooled compressor so that it operates efficiently and at lower sound levels.
